PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Our physicians can offer to relieve your heel pain and plantar fasciitis, working with you to get you back on your feet. 214-574-9255Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. Inflammation in the band of tissue that runs on the bottom of the foot and supports the arch can lead to severe heel and arch pain. This band of tissue, the plantar fascia, is one of the most common causes of heel pain and if untreated can affect your daily life and worsen without treatment.

Plantar fasciitis pain is most notable with the first few steps in the morning, and at the end of the day. Chronic plantar fasciitis can even lead to heel spurs or formation of bone in the heel. If untreated this condition can progress and even require surgery.

Fortunately at North Texas Foot and Ankle, we offer many effective treatments for heel pain that don’t require surgery. Our physicians will work with you to find the solutions to your heel pain and the treatment that works best.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy or ESWT is one of the newest treatments we offer for plantar fasciitis and other soft tissue pathology. Our treatments use Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology, or EPAT, which is a form of extracorporeal shock wave therapy.

EPAT is a quick, in-office treatment. Its treatment sessions usually only take 5 – 10 minutes. The treatment is FDA approved and has a low risk of complications. Since the treatment is non-invasive, you will be able to return to activity the next day! A reported 75-80% of patients have seen great improvement and healing of their injuries following treatment with Shockwave.

Aside from Shockwave therapy, there are many other treatments that our physicians can offer to relieve your heel pain and plantar fasciitis and they will work with you to get you back on your feet.
